Livery Live Shadowmere

We use the Livery Live app to manage the day to day tasks and record keeping. This includes weekly weight, feed chart, worming, farrier, physio and Vet visits. This information is all stored online in the app and is accessible by our clients for their horse. A notification is sent as soon as an item relating to your horse has been added. So in between regular updates, you will receive live information and scheduled appointments. So no matter the distance or time pressures, you will always know what going on.

Livery Live Shadowmere

Stabling & Individual Outdoor Area

Each stable is located within our quiet, well ventilated brick barn, boasting a generous 14x14ft indoor area, with monarch partitions and rubber matting to the both the floor and walls. Each stable is mucked/skipped out daily and all bedding is provided within the livery package.

Individual all-weather turn out pens

An additional stable door is located to the rear, allowing your horse to access the individual all weather turn out, again, boasting a generous 14x14ft. This allows your horse further access to fresh air, and in the event of your horse requiring box rest, allows us to limit exercise without keeping him indoors.

Automatic water drinkers are present in each stable with a unique water monitoring system, allowing us to monitor the intake of water to each unit, therefore ensuring your horse is drinking adequately.

Light Therapy System

We also have a unique lighting system in place throughout the barn.

Research has shown that horses benefit from light therapy, much the same as humans. With different lighting for the day, and another for night, they not only regulate the body clock, but improve respiratory health, accelerate wound healing and enhance alertness and mood. We humans would call them SAD ( Seasonal Adjustment Disorder ) lights and we use them to adjust our mood and treat depression. This also allows us to complete our night checks once everyone is resting quietly without disturbing them too much with a bright fluorescent light.

Residents are usually, unless in exceptional warm weather and conditions agree, returned to their individual stabling for evening feeds and for the duration of the night.

We believe this encourages a good rest, allowing them to lay peacefully without the un-necessary worry of dangers. A lot can be said for a good rest, both horse and human alike. This also allows us to administer any regular medications, complete daily checks for health and wellbeing, ensure they receive their usual meal, and of course have a little cuddle.

During warm weather, residents will be returned to the field, if they are happy to, following evening meals and health checks.

All Weather Turnout

Our all weather turnout area is designed much the same as your usual menage, constructed to allow for the very best drainage to avoid any flooding or wet areas, it contains sand and rubber within a 50 x 30 metre area, surrounded by post and rail fencing.

This area will allow us to not only exercise horses, but ensure that those suffering from laminitis can still exercise freely and socialise with the other guests within the paddocks.

Turnout and Paddocks

Turnout is offered all year round, unless in exceptional weather conditions. Grazing within well maintained paddocks is a natural choice and we aim to provide this wherever possible, offering this daily following morning feeds up until evening feeds.

We have a total of 7 separate paddocks, each surrounded by post and rail fencing and include automatic water drinkers.

Our field is under ground drained, which are jetted regularly to ensure they are working efficiently. This maintains our paddocks even throughout the wettest of weathers, draining water from our paddocks into the waterways.

Our grass has been specially sown and grown using Triple H Paddock Grass, which is suitable for laminitis prone horses and ponies and is enriched with palatable herbs including chicory, burnet, sheeps parsley and yarrow. This grass is particularly high in fibre yet low in sugars.

The majority of our grounds are surrounded by young hedging and trees, and as such, all of our paddocks contain field shelters to offer some relief from the elements.

Turnout is offered within carefully selected groups, allowing our horses to interact as they naturally should within a herd. Each paddock, including the all weather turnout, is clearly visible from our office, our home and each surrounding paddock. CCTV is also installed throughout all areas, including the paddocks.

Field rotation is paramount to offering all year turnout and shall be implemented throughout the seasons, whilst our qualified agronomist provides advice and management to ensure our paddocks and grass remain in top condition and quality. Poo picking of all grazed fields is completed daily.

Hot shower and solarium

Our purpose built barn also offers a hot shower and solarium.

All bathing and products are of course included within the livery package and allows us to bathe when required, even during the coldest of weathers.

The solarium shall be used not only after bathing, but to also offer any relief required to those suffering from aches and pains.

Rug Washing

We encourage our clients to send their beloved horse with 5 rugs ( stable, fleece, heavy duty turnout, lightweight turnout and fly ), each of these shall be washed, repaired and re-proofed on site using our rug room facility which houses a washing machine and centaur rug drying racks, alongside storage areas.

CCTV

Our entire premises are covered by CCTV, this includes all of our paddocks, each indoor area, including your personal stable.

Owners are able to log onto the secure CCTV system and view their horse, at any time of day or night.

We believe this is not only a powerful tool for owners to remain close to their beloved horse between visits and reassures owners that proper care and attention is guaranteed throughout our business, but also allows us to monitor all guests closely, even when we are away from the barn overnight.
